Saturday 6th October 2012 - Salford Quays Polo Tournament

Well we started the day quite late, as one person went out the night before and was extremely hungover the next morning and some people dropped out! But we made it to the tournament in time with 4 players. It was quite sunny, but just wearing a BA and rash vest in October meant it was very cold!

Our first game was against Lancaster University; we played a really good game and won 5-1. The second game was against Manchester Wildcatz D, this tested us a bit more as we were against experienced players, but that didn’t stop Ailsa as she charged at every player that got the ball preventing them from passing to each other. The final score I think was 2-3 to the Wildcatz.

The third game we had no chance because we played against the notorious FOA! Lets just say they were running rings round us and I got binned by a 12 year old twice! And we lost 2-7. But technically speaking we won as FOA weren’t really supposed to be there as the Vikings had dropped out.  The last game we played was against Sheffield Hallam, and by this point most of us were knackered and cold but we still gave it our all and lost 2-4.

So technically we won 2 and lost 2 (as FOA doesn’t count, it was a friendly), which I think was pretty good considering that we only had 4 players one of which was extremely hungover. From this experience I think I need to work on my bracing! I would say most of the goals go towards Ant and Ben.

To round the day off we decided to have a Toby’s Carvery in celebration and get all the energy we lost back.
